Customs relief for moving your home to Cyprus
The Cyprus Customs Department offers relief from import duty and VAT when you transfer your normal residence to the Republic of Cyprus from a country outside the EU. You apply on form Απ. 2 at any customs house, with documents showing that your normal residence was outside the EU, that you possessed and used your personal property for the qualifying period, and that you have transferred your normal residence to Cyprus.
Personal property here means property for the personal use of the people concerned or the needs of their household, and it must not reflect any commercial interest by its nature or quantity. Goods outside that definition are declared separately and pay the normal duties and taxes.
