Practical moving information
We arrange secure storage near either address, so one company handles the move in, the storage and the move out. Tell us roughly how much is going into storage and for how long, and all three appear in one written quote.
Storage for a 1-bedroom flat's contents is £250 to £350 a month, VAT included, with the first month paid upfront. Larger homes are priced on volume. The moves into and out of storage are priced from the same hourly rate card as any other move.
How a storage move works
Three parts, each its own line in your quote: the move from your home into storage, the storage itself by the month, and the move from storage to your new address when you are ready.
Part of a load can go straight to the new home and the rest into storage on the same job. Tell us which pieces go where, and wrapping or packing materials for anything being stored are priced in your quote.
When people book it
The completion on the new home is later than the date the old one has to be empty.
A renovation, when the furniture needs to be out of the way for a few weeks.
Downsizing, when not everything fits the new home and you are not ready to decide what to keep.
A short gap of a night or a few days: we have collected furniture, stored it overnight and delivered it back the next day.

How much does removals & storage cost?
The main factors are the vehicle and crew, loading and unloading time, and the distance between your two addresses. Access and any packing or furniture work help us build the rest of the quotation.
- Vehicle, crew and time
- For hourly moves, the rate depends on the vehicle and number of movers. Hours are billed as worked, subject to a 2- or 3-hour minimum depending on the vehicle. Tell us what is moving so we can confirm a suitable team and allow realistic loading time.
- Distance and access
- A vehicle-specific per-mile charge is added. Stairs, parking and the walk from the vehicle to each front door also matter: a short local journey can still involve a long loading day. Tell us about working lifts and any loading restrictions at both addresses.
- The work you need us to do
- Furniture dismantling and reassembly are priced per item. Packing requirements and any additional collection or delivery stops should be agreed before the move, so the quotation reflects the whole job.
A driver-only rate is not a fully crewed price. Your written quote confirms the vehicle, crew and scope of work — and the price is the total, with no VAT added on top.
Published prices to help you plan
Priced by the hour from the same vehicle and crew rate card as every other service we offer, plus mileage for the distance covered.
Separately priced work
- Stairs: £10 per person on the crew, per flight of stairs, for each hour at that address — a floor is 2 flights, so a first floor is 2 flights and a third floor 6. Only the ground floor is free; a working lift means no stair charge.
- A single or double bed: £50 to dismantle, £90 with reassembly at the other end. Every dismantling or reassembly booking has a £90 minimum; other furniture has its own per-item rate.
What size removal van and crew will I need?
Property size is only a starting point. The volume of furniture and boxes, access, parking and unusually large items also affect the vehicle and crew we recommend.
A starting point for your inventory
The capacities and minimum bookings are from our fleet data. Property suggestions are guidance, not a guaranteed vehicle allocation.
How many movers will attend?
The rate card offers 2 movers, 3 movers, 4 movers, as well as driver-only bookings. Bedroom count does not decide the crew: tell us about the furniture, stairs and any heavy items, and confirm who will handle loading and unloading when you book.
- Access can change the vehicle
- Narrow roads, low entrances and restricted parking may make a smaller vehicle more practical. Share height restrictions and loading rules before a vehicle is allocated.
- Volume matters more than bedrooms
- Include the loft, shed and garden furniture in your inventory. A lightly furnished three-bedroom house can have less to move than a full two-bedroom flat.
- Large items and longer journeys need a plan
- Flag pianos, heavy furniture and oversized pieces early. If the load may need more than one vehicle or journey, discuss that before booking, especially when the destination is a long way away.
From quote to the last box
How your move works
Five steps, one coordinator, and a plan agreed before the van arrives.
- 1
Tell us about your move
Use the quote form, call or WhatsApp. Add photos if it helps — the more we know, the more accurate the price.
- 2
Get your written quote
An itemised quote within 24 hours, built from our published rates: vehicle, crew, hours and extras, line by line.
- 3
Your coordinator takes over
Once you book, one named coordinator confirms the date, vehicle and crew, and stays your contact until the last box is in.
- 4
Packed and loaded
Floors and doorways protected, furniture dismantled and blanket-wrapped, and the van loaded in the order you want it unloaded.
- 5
Unloaded and rebuilt
Boxes go to the rooms you labelled, beds go back together, and the crew stays until you have walked the house.

What happens on a storage move?
We agree what goes into storage and for roughly how long, move it in, and move it out to your new address when you are ready. Each part is its own line in your quote.
- 1
Agree what is going into storage
The whole home or part of it, and roughly how long it needs to stay — so the space and the price fit.
- 2
Move into storage
Loaded, wrapped where needed, and taken to the storage we arrange near your old or new address.
- 3
Storage by the month
Charged monthly, with the first month paid upfront. A short stay of a night or a few days is priced in your quote.
- 4
Book the move out
Tell us your new address and date as soon as you know them, so the move out is planned rather than rushed.
- 5
Delivered to your new home
Unloaded and placed in the rooms you want, the same as any other move.

What changes from one move to the next?
Two moves of the same property size can run very differently. These are the things that most often change the vehicle, the crew or the time — and the details worth telling us when you enquire.
Completion on the new home is delayed
Your belongings go into storage on the day the old home has to be empty, and come out when the keys are released.
Part to the new home, part into storage
One job with two drops: tell us which pieces go where, and the van is loaded in that order.
A night or a few days
For a short gap, such as work on a flat, furniture can be collected, stored overnight and delivered back the next day.
Downsizing
What does not fit the new home can wait in storage while you decide what to keep, rather than being rushed into a decision on moving day.
These are planning examples, not records of particular jobs.
Prepare for your move
- Planning a long-distance move without losing the day
A move of three hundred miles is not a local move with more driving. The difference is what has to be decided before the van is loaded.
- Packing fragile things so they survive the van
Most breakages do not happen in a drop. They happen slowly, over a hundred miles of vibration, to things that were packed with room to move.
How should I prepare for a storage move?
List what goes into storage and what goes to the new home, label boxes clearly, and tell us the date you expect to need things back.
Before the day
- List what goes into storage and what goes to the new home.
- Label boxes for storage clearly, with the room they will go to later.
- Tell us roughly how long things need to stay in storage.
- Keep documents, medication and valuables with you rather than in storage.
On the day
- Point out anything that goes to a different address.
- Check that nothing you need in the next few weeks is going into storage.
Packing takes longer than almost anyone expects.
