From
£70per hour (driver only)

Final price will be confirmed by the AFS Removals team after reviewing these details.
What we do
Start with the job
Nine services, priced from one rate card. Most moves use two or three of them together.

The same facts published across this site, grouped so you can scan the one you actually came here for.
Included on every job, not sold as an add-on
Goods in Transit cover
Included as standard on every move, not sold as an optional extra.
Public Liability cover
In place for every job, domestic and commercial alike.
Packing materials

How a move runs
Five steps, one coordinator, and no part of it that only becomes clear on the day.

Step 1
Get a price
Work one out from the published rate card, or ring us and we will do it with you. No survey needed to find out what stairs or a wardrobe cost.
Step 2
We confirm the job
Vehicle, crew size and date agreed, and a named coordinator takes the job over. One person, from here to the last box.
Step 3
Packing
The whole house or just the fragile things — your call. Bubble wrap, shrink wrap, wardrobe cartons and furniture blankets are included either way.
Step 4
Moving day
Floors and doorways protected before anything moves. Furniture dismantled, everything blanket-wrapped, loaded in the order you want it unloaded.
Step 5
Unloaded and rebuilt
Boxes go to the room you labelled them for, beds go back together, and nobody leaves until you have walked the house.
What it costs
The parts of the price we can publish are published
Hourly by vehicle and crew, plus a per-mile distance charge. No survey needed to find out what stairs or a wardrobe add.
Hourly, from
£55
Small Transit (SWB), driver only · 2-hour minimum
Stairs
Included
Ground and first floor. Then £20 for the second, £40 for the third, £60 for the fourth, and £20 per floor beyond that.
Dismantling, from
£50
A single or double bed, dismantle only. Every item has a published price, from beds to a six-door wardrobe, subject to a £90 minimum booking.
What that adds up to
The smallest job we publish a rate for — a small transit (swb), driver only, 2 hours at £55 an hour with 10 miles at £1.20 a mile — comes to £122, with cover and materials already in it. Bigger vehicles and crews are priced the same way.
An arithmetic example from the published rates, not a quote. Stairs above the first floor and any furniture dismantling are charged on top.

How much does it cost to move house?
Most removals sites won't show you a number until you've handed over your details. Here is the actual structure behind the price, with the rates we publish.

How to choose a removals company
A high star rating on its own tells you very little. Here's what actually separates a mover worth booking from one worth avoiding, and how AFS stacks up against its own checklist.

Planning a long-distance move without losing the day
A move of three hundred miles is not a local move with more driving. The difference is what has to be decided before the van is loaded.
