What we collect

We collect personal data when you:

• Request a quote or estimate through this site, by phone or by email — typically your name, contact details, moving addresses, moving date and details of the items being moved.
• Book or receive a removals service — the same details, plus anything you tell us that is relevant to carrying out the move (access notes, special items, insurance queries).
• Contact us with a question, complaint or review.
• Browse this site — basic technical data such as pages viewed and, where a third-party embed is loaded (for example the Google Maps embed on our contact page), any cookies or data that provider sets under its own privacy policy.

Why we use it and our legal basis

• Providing a quote and carrying out a booking — necessary to perform a contract with you, or to take steps at your request before entering one.
• Responding to enquiries and complaints — our legitimate interest in running the business and resolving issues, or performance of a contract if you are already a customer.
• Legal and accounting records — necessary to comply with our legal obligations, including tax and company law.
• Improving this site — our legitimate interest in understanding how it is used, balanced against your rights.
• Improving our customer service and AI assistant — our legitimate interest in analysing past customer correspondence to understand common questions and train the automated assistant used on our site and apps. Correspondence is anonymised before any such analysis, and historical prices found in it are never used to state a current price.

We use an AI assistant to help answer questions about our services and prices, and to help our staff prepare quotes and respond to enquiries faster. It only ever draws on our current, approved prices and policies — never on invented or historical figures — and a person, not the AI, always decides your price, your quote and any booking. We do not use automated decision-making to determine whether to provide a service to you, and we do not sell personal data to third parties.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only where necessary: with our own staff and subcontracted crews carrying out a booked move, with our insurers in connection with the Goods in Transit and Public Liability cover included on every job, with our accountants and professional advisers, and with service providers who process data on our behalf (for example, hosting and email delivery). We do not share your data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and booking data for as long as needed to deliver the service, resolve any dispute, and meet our legal and accounting retention obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to ask for your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@afsremovals.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you believe your data has been mishandled.

Cookies

This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies of its own. Where a third-party embed is used, such as the Google Maps frame on our contact page, that provider may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy — we do not control or receive data from those cookies.
