Prices

What a move in Bourne End costs

Our rates are the same in Bourne End as everywhere else we work, and they are never changed by postcode.

A quote is built from up to four parts, and each one is its own line in your written quote. Nothing else is added.

  1. An hourly rate for the vehicle and crew

From £75 an hour for a small van and two movers. Driving time between your two addresses is charged at the same rate.

  2. A per-mile charge

For the road distance between the address you are leaving and the one you are moving to, at the rate for your vehicle.

  3. Published extras, where they apply

Stairs without a lift, waiting time, dismantling, or an evening or Sunday move.

  4. Packing, if you want it

A whole-home package or just the breakables. Leave it out and you pack yourself.

Two worked examples

A 2-bedroom home, a local move of about 6 miles. A 5.5 Tonne Lorry with two movers is £160 an hour. Loading and unloading takes about 6 hours and the drive between the two addresses about 15 min, so 6 hr 30 min is booked: £1,040. Six miles at £2 adds £12, which comes to about £1,052 before any stairs, dismantling or packing.

The same home, 200 miles out of Bourne End. The drive takes about 3 hr 15 min, so 9 hr 30 min is booked (£1,520), and 200 miles × £2 adds £400: about £1,920. A long-distance move is priced from the same rate card as a local one; it just has more miles on it.

Do you pay for our journey to Bourne End?

No. Our nearest office is in London, about 27 miles from Bourne End as the crow flies. That journey is not in your quote.

The hourly charge starts when the crew arrives at your first address, and the mileage covers only the road distance between the address you are leaving and the one you are moving to. That holds whether you are moving across Bourne End or to the other end of the country.

Council rules

What the council says about moving day in Bourne End

Published by the authorities themselves, with a link to each. Rules and fees change, so check the source before you rely on them.

  1. Reserving space outside the property: Buckinghamshire Council

Buckinghamshire Council asks for applications at least 28 days before a parking suspension or dispensation is needed. Its listed charges are £17.60 per space per day for the first 7 days, £19.80 per space per day for days 8 to 14 and £22 per space per day from day 15, plus £6.60 per space per day where a pay and display space is taken out of use. On-street spaces are charged per standard space of up to 6 metres.

Buckinghamshire Council: How to apply for a parking suspension or dispensation
  2. What a suspension needs in Buckinghamshire

Furniture removals are listed as a valid reason for a parking suspension, and general parking needs are not accepted. You upload proof of address, proof of the vehicle such as a registration document or hire agreement, and a map screenshot or image identifying the space. The space must be one where parking is legal, and residents parking spaces can be suspended for no longer than 7 days in a row unless other parking is provided for residents.

Buckinghamshire Council: Get a parking suspension to book a parking space for a limited time
  3. Parking dispensations in Buckinghamshire

A dispensation lets a vehicle park temporarily where restrictions apply, and furniture removals are among the accepted reasons. It cannot be used where loading restrictions are in place, within 50 metres of a traffic-light junction, or on disabled bays, doctors' spaces, taxi ranks, bus stops, zebra crossing approaches or footpaths. You need the vehicle registration number to apply. The dispensation page does not state its own price, so confirm the cost when applying.

Stairs and lifts

Floors, lifts and the carry from the van

Tell us which floor each address is on and whether a lift takes furniture. Stairs are charged by the flight from the first floor up, and a working lift removes the charge. A long walk from the van, a narrow gate or a tight stairwell also changes the time a job takes.

FloorFlightsCrew of 2, per hour
Ground floorNoneFree
First floor2£40
Second floor4£80
Third floor6£120
Fourth floor8£160

£10 per person, per flight, per hour spent at that address, driver included. A crew of 2 spending one hour loading on a third floor (6 flights) adds £120. With a working lift that takes the furniture, the line is £0.

Extra help

Deciding how much help you need

Most moves need only a vehicle and a crew sized to the home. These are the situations where adding help usually saves time or reduces risk.

  • An extra mover

Worth it when there are stairs at both ends, a long carry from where the van can stop, or a tight window between collecting your keys and handing over your old ones.

For a Luton Box Van, a third mover takes the hourly rate from £100 to £130.

  • Packing

Worth it when you have less than a week, a lot of glass, china or artwork, or little time around work.

Packing packages include the materials: £400 for a 1-bedroom home, £600 for 2 bedrooms and £1,000 for 3. If you only want the breakables done, fragile-only packing covers glass, china, artwork and mirrors.

  • Dismantling and reassembly

Worth it when a bed, wardrobe or table will not pass through a stairwell or doorway in one piece.

A single or double bed is £50 to dismantle, or £90 to dismantle and rebuild; a standard two-door wardrobe is £60, or £110 with reassembly. Every dismantling booking has a £90 minimum.

  • Pianos, antiques and artwork

Worth it when an item is heavy, valuable or awkward enough to need extra wrapping and handling.

Priced for the item, after we know what it is and where it has to go.

  • Storage

Worth it when your new home is not ready on moving day, the dates do not line up, or you are downsizing and need somewhere for what does not fit yet.

We arrange secure storage near either address. Storage for a 1-bedroom flat's contents is £250 to £350 a month, VAT included, with the first month paid upfront; larger homes are priced on volume in your quote. Moving into and out of storage is priced like any other move.

Questions

Moving in Bourne End: common questions

Do you cover all of Bourne End?
Yes. We cover all of Bourne End and the rest of Buckinghamshire, and we move people to and from anywhere in the UK. A long-distance move is priced from the same rate card as a local one — it just has more miles on it.
How much does a move in Bourne End cost?
The same as everywhere we work — our rates do not change by postcode. For example, 2-bedroom home: £780 (5.5 Tonne Lorry, 2 movers, about 6 hours loading and unloading). Loading and unloading labour only, worked out the same way as our quote form. Driving time, mileage between your two addresses, stairs (£10 per person, per flight, per hour at that address), packing and dismantling are added in your written quote. Your itemised written quote arrives within 24 hours.
How far is Bourne End from your nearest office?
About 27 miles from our London office, as the crow flies. The time in your quote runs from the crew's arrival at your address, and the mileage is worked out from the road distance between your two addresses.
Do I need to arrange parking for moving day in Bourne End?
Often, yes. The council rules we have found for Bourne End are listed on this page with links to the official pages, including how much notice a parking suspension needs. Tell us what you have arranged when you book, and we plan the vehicle around it.
What is included in a house move?
Goods in Transit and Public Liability cover, our own employed crew, and a named move coordinator who handles your job from the quote to the last box. The crew protects floors and doorways before anything moves, blanket-wraps furniture, and unloads boxes into the rooms you have labelled them for. Packing, packing materials, furniture dismantling and specialist handling have their own published prices, so you only pay for what you need.
Show all 7 questions
How far in advance should I book?
As soon as you have a likely date, even if completion is not confirmed. Fridays and month-ends go first, so an early conversation gives you more choice. If you are working to a short deadline, call anyway: homes up to two bedrooms can often be moved the same day if you book by 2pm, and larger homes usually the next day, subject to availability. There is no extra charge for short notice. Phone lines are open seven days a week, 8:00am – 10:30pm.
Do I need to pack everything myself?
No. You can pack everything yourself, have us pack the whole property, or have us pack only the fragile items. Whichever you choose, we bring the boxes, tape and wrap with us and itemise them in your quote. If you are packing yourself, the single most useful thing you can do is label each box with the room it is going to at the new address rather than the room it came from — that is what makes room-by-room unloading work at the other end.
