Other charges that can apply

  • Stairs

£10 per person, per flight, per hour

From the first floor up, for the hours at that address. A floor is 2 flights, so a first floor with a two-person crew adds £40 an hour there. A working lift that takes furniture removes the charge.

  • Waiting time

For example if the keys are released late on completion day: £80 an hour for a two-person crew.

Your quote says which applies to your date before you book.

  • Congestion Charge

TfL's daily charge inside the zone only

Added as its own line if either address is inside central London's Congestion Charge zone during charging hours. Our vans meet the ULEZ standard, so there is no ULEZ charge.

TfL: Congestion Charge zone and hours

The minimum booking is 2 hours for the Small Transit (SWB) and Transit LWB, and 3 hours for the Luton Box Van, 5.5 Tonne Lorry, 7.5 Tonne Lorry, 10 Tonne Lorry, 12 Tonne Lorry and 18 Tonne Lorry.

To get an itemised quote, send us both addresses, the floor and lift situation at each, where the van can stop, and what the job involves. Your quote arrives in writing within 24 hours.

The service

House Removals with AFS

Most of what we do is this: getting a household from one address to another without the day falling apart. It runs on unglamorous things — the right size of vehicle, enough people on it, and someone whose job it is to answer the phone when the completion time slips.

Every move comes with Goods in Transit and Public Liability cover, a crew employed by AFS rather than a subcontractor, and one coordinator from the quote to the last box.

Where we work

We cover house removals across all of Haringey: Woodside, Noel Park, Harringay, Bounds Green, Alexandra Park, White Hart Lane, West Green and Hornsey. Jobs out to Wood Green, Muswell Hill, Crouch End and Archway are quoted the same way.

Council rules

What the council says about moving day in Haringey

Published by the authorities themselves, with a link to each. Rules and fees change, so check the source before you rely on them.

  1. Reserving space outside the property: Haringey Council

Haringey takes bay suspension applications online, through an account, and asks for 2 weeks' notice. It charges a £280 administration fee plus £80 per space per day. Haringey does not suspend red routes; those requests go to TfL. Its page does not say whether a house move qualifies, so confirm that with the council. With AFS, you apply for and pay for any suspension yourself, then send us the booking reference and bay location so we can plan the van around it.

Extra help

Deciding how much help you need

Most moves need only a vehicle and a crew sized to the home. These are the situations where adding help usually saves time or reduces risk.

  • An extra mover

Worth it when there are stairs at both ends, a long carry from where the van can stop, or a tight window between collecting your keys and handing over your old ones.

For a Luton Box Van, a third mover takes the hourly rate from £100 to £130.

  • Packing

Worth it when you have less than a week, a lot of glass, china or artwork, or little time around work.

Packing packages include the materials: £400 for a 1-bedroom home, £600 for 2 bedrooms and £1,000 for 3. If you only want the breakables done, fragile-only packing covers glass, china, artwork and mirrors.

  • Dismantling and reassembly

Worth it when a bed, wardrobe or table will not pass through a stairwell or doorway in one piece.

A single or double bed is £50 to dismantle, or £90 to dismantle and rebuild; a standard two-door wardrobe is £60, or £110 with reassembly. Every dismantling booking has a £90 minimum.

  • Pianos, antiques and artwork

Worth it when an item is heavy, valuable or awkward enough to need extra wrapping and handling.

Priced for the item, after we know what it is and where it has to go.

  • Storage

Worth it when your new home is not ready on moving day, the dates do not line up, or you are downsizing and need somewhere for what does not fit yet.

We arrange secure storage near either address. Storage for a 1-bedroom flat's contents is £250 to £350 a month, VAT included, with the first month paid upfront; larger homes are priced on volume in your quote. Moving into and out of storage is priced like any other move.

Questions

House Removals in Haringey: common questions

Do you cover all of Haringey?
Yes. We cover all of Haringey, across the N22, N8 and N17 postcode districts, including Woodside, Noel Park, Harringay and Bounds Green. A move from Haringey to Wood Green or to the other end of the UK is priced from the same rate card.
What are your prices for house removals in Haringey?
The same as everywhere we work: our rates never change by postcode. For 2-bedroom home, the commonest size of home in Haringey, the labour guide is £780; the prices section above shows every size, and your itemised written quote arrives within 24 hours.
Do I need to arrange parking for moving day in Haringey?
Haringey takes bay suspension applications online, through an account, and asks for 2 weeks' notice. You apply for and pay for any suspension yourself, and tell us the bay when you book; the council's fees and link are in the council rules section.
Can you dismantle and rebuild furniture?
Yes. Dismantling and reassembly is charged per item at a published rate rather than folded into the hourly rate, from £50 to dismantle a single or double bed, or £90 with reassembly at the other end — subject to a £90 minimum booking. Beds and larger wardrobes frequently have to come apart before they will leave a room at all, so it is worth flagging them when you enquire — that way the crew arrives with the right tools and the time is already built into the estimate.
What is included in a house move?
Goods in Transit and Public Liability cover, our own employed crew, and a named move coordinator who handles your job from the quote to the last box. The crew protects floors and doorways before anything moves, blanket-wraps furniture, and unloads boxes into the rooms you have labelled them for. Packing, packing materials, furniture dismantling and specialist handling have their own published prices, so you only pay for what you need.
Do you charge for stairs?
Yes, from the first floor up: £10 per person on the crew, per flight of stairs, for each hour at that address — a floor is 2 flights, so a first floor is 2 flights and a third floor 6. The hours are the loading time at the collection and the unloading time at the delivery, so a third-floor flat to a second-floor flat carries both. Only the ground floor is free, and a working lift means no stair charge at all — worth confirming the lift is in service on the day.
